Use of FERMACELL products in a multi-storey light-wood frame project

In this second part (2 of 4), we will discuss the economy at the level of the structural slabs.

Three cases of structural slabs (concrete and reinforcement) were modeled.

1) 12" GF slab with 1 ½" concrete topping.

2) 12" GF slab with Fermacell product.

3) 11" GF slab with Fermacell product.

Compared to the first, the second case would have a cost saving of almost 3%. The economy is even more important in the third case, where we could fetch the double, a little over 6%.

To maximize the material savings for the transfer slab, the thickness must be optimized. This thickness optimization is possible thanks to the load reduction caused by the replacement of the light-weight concrete topping by Fermacell dry flooring boards.
